Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway, under its special initiative Operation Nanhe Farishte, rescued two minor children from Chandrapur and Nagpur railway stations and ensured their safe return to their families and Childline.
The first case was reported at Chandrapur Railway Station, where an RPF team, while patrolling on Platform No. 01, noticed a minor boy wandering alone in a distressed state. Upon questioning, he revealed that he had run away from home in anger and arrived at Chandrapur by train.
The RPF team promptly contacted his family, who confirmed that he had been missing since March 10, 2025, and assured their arrival the next day to take him home. In the meantime, the child was provided with necessary care and medical attention before being handed over to the District Childline, Chandrapur, for his safety.
In another incident, at Nagpur Railway Station, an RPF team found a 16-year-old girl alone on Platform No. 03 (Mumbai end) at around 15:30 hrs. When questioned, she was unable to provide a satisfactory response, leading the team to escort her to the RPF office and inform Childline representatives.
Upon further inquiry, she admitted that she had left home after a dispute with her family and was planning to travel to Pune. The RPF contacted her parents, who arrived at the station, completed the necessary formalities, and took their daughter home safely.
The Railway Protection Force continues to uphold its commitment to rescuing missing and runaway children, ensuring their protection and safe rehabilitation. Passengers are urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any unaccompanied or distressed minor children to the RPF helpline number 139.
