Nagpur: A violent clash between two rival groups in Tajabad on Sunday, March 9 night left two youths injured, raising concerns about escalating gang violence in the area. The injured have been identified as Shakeel Khan Babbu Khan and Mohammad Zeeshan, while the accused, Sonu alias Mujammil Isteyaq, has been apprehended by Sakkardara police.
According to police sources, the conflict stemmed from an old rivalry. Sonu, son of Isteyaq Khadim, was allegedly abused by criminal Rafiq. When he objected, Rafiq and his associates reportedly assaulted him. Seeking revenge, Sonu later attacked Shakeel Khan near Corner Paan Palace, injuring Zeeshan when he tried to intervene.
Following the incident, Shakeel lodged a complaint, leading to Sonu’s apprehension. However, tensions rose when Sonu’s supporters filed a counter-complaint against Rafiq’s group, alleging police inaction.
Notably, Sonu’s father and uncle were implicated in an MD drug trafficking case last year. The ongoing rivalry, reportedly linked to drug disputes and personal enmities, has fueled concerns of further violence in Tajabad. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
