New Kamptee Police Apprehend MD Drug Smuggler in Nagpur

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, New Kamptee police apprehended a suspect in possession of MD powder near Yerakheda, Gram Panchayat Ground, Kamptee, on January 12 at approximately 4:50 p.m. The raid, conducted near a Duster car (MH 40 AC 5490), led to the arrest of Azhar Ahmed Ansari (37), a resident of Warispura, Old Kamptee, Nagpur.


A search of the vehicle revealed 12.3 grams of MD powder, a mobile phone, a weighing scale, and the Duster vehicle, collectively valued at ₹6,34,200. Upon interrogation, Ansari admitted that the contraband was procured with the assistance of five accomplices — Kurban Aziz Ali, Sufiyan Abid Khan, Haider Ali Yusuf Ali, Aftab Ali Aziz Ali, and Zishan Haider Rizwan Rizvi — all residents of Kamptee. The substances were intended for sale to generate financial profit.


A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act at New Kamptee police station. The main accused has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding accomplices.


This operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers, including Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singhal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Kshirsagar. The investigation team was led by Police Inspector Satish Ade and included multiple officers and constables.
