Nagpur: A 22-year-old man was found dead after suffering an electric shock while allegedly attempting to steal equipment from a transformer in Maulinagar-9, Hingna. The incident occurred on January 13 between 12:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

The deceased, identified as Ankush Rajendra Patel, a resident of Shramik Nagar slums, Parsodi, was discovered hanging from an electric pole near the transformer on the Amravati-Jabalpur Highway, opposite Cancer Hospital. Ankush reportedly climbed the pole to steal electrical components but came into contact with a live wire, resulting in his death.

His body was retrieved and sent to AIIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case of accidental death has been registered at Hingna police station based on a complaint by his brother, Shivprasad Rajendra Patel (21). Further investigation is ongoing.
