Nagpur: A drunk driving incident in MIDC police jurisdiction on Sunday, caused a disruption at IC Square.

According to police, the accused, Rishabh Subhash Sharma (31), a resident of LAD Square, MIDC, Nagpur, drove a Suzuki car (registration no. MH 31 FX 7333) recklessly under the influence of alcohol and hit a road divider on January 12, between 10:35 a.m. and 12:05 p.m., leading to a crowd gathering at the scene.

When Police Constable Manish Ghardhe arrived to manage the situation and questioned Sharma for his license and vehicle documents, the accused, along with two companions — Neeraj Vinayak Vartak (33) of Dharampeth and Shipra Pradeep Lonare (31) of MIDC — allegedly abused the cop and other personnel, including female cop, in an intoxicated state. They refused to produce the required documents and obstructed official duties.

A complaint was filed by Constable Ghardhe, and a case has been registered at MIDC police station under Sections 221, 296, and 3(5) of the BNS, along with Sections 85, 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further investigation is underway.
