Nagpur: A pan stall owner, identified as Robert Francis, attempted suicide by consuming poison outside an MLA’s residence in Pratap Nagar police station limits here, on Wednesday, April 2.

The incident has raised concerns about the mental health impact of enforcement actions on small business owners.

According to reports, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had taken action against Robert’s pan stall, after which he allegedly went into depression. Distressed by the situation, he attempted to end his life.

Following the incident, he was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities are investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
