Nagpur: A 28-year-old engineer from Pune died by suicide at her residence in Mankapur, allegedly due to a conspiracy involving a fake video and life threats here, on Tuesday, April 1.
The deceased, identified as Vaishali, left behind suicide notes in English and Marathi, naming two individuals, Ritesh and Pratim, as responsible for her death. She also accused her roommate of threatening to kill her.
According to police, Vaishali had returned to Nagpur around 15 days ago and was living with her father, brother, and sister-in-law. On Tuesday morning, around 11 a.m., she asked her father to step out to buy breakfast. When he returned, he found her hanging.
In her suicide note, Vaishali alleged that her mobile phone was stolen from Indore airport on March 5. Despite her efforts to file a complaint, the police allegedly refused to register it due to the absence of a mobile bill. She also stated that she was being framed through a fabricated video and denied making any religious comments.
Family members disclosed that Vaishali had recently traveled to Coimbatore from Prayagraj before returning to Nagpur. Since then, she exhibited signs of extreme mental distress, refused to eat food prepared by others, and preferred cooking for herself or remaining hungry.
Mankapur police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the matter.
