Nagpur: In a shocking hit-and-run case, a reckless car driver not only failed to provide medical aid to an injured youth but also abandoned him under a bridge, leading to his death due to excessive bleeding. The incident occurred near the National Cancer Institute in Hingna police jurisdiction on Monday night, triggering an overnight police search that ended with the discovery of the victim’s body under Chinchbhavan Bridge early Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Krishna Bulse, a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Hudkeshwar.
According to police reports, Krishna and his acquaintance, Rupesh Wakale—both construction workers—were returning home on a motorcycle from Gumgaon around 8 pm when a speeding white car hit them from behind. The collision threw both riders off their vehicle, leaving Krishna severely injured with a head injury.
Eyewitnesses, including laborers working on a nearby gas pipeline project, saw the accident unfold. The car driver stopped and offered to take Krishna to a hospital. Trusting his intentions, Rupesh and the bystanders helped place the injured youth into the vehicle. However, as Krishna screamed in pain, the driver seemingly panicked at the prospect of legal consequences. Instead of seeking medical assistance, he stopped under Chinchbhavan Bridge, dumped Krishna’s body, and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, Rupesh informed Krishna’s wife and the police about the incident. Personnel from Beltarodi, Hudkeshwar, and Hingna police stations launched a frantic search, checking multiple hospitals, but Krishna was nowhere to be found. At around 3:30 am, his body was discovered under the bridge. His death was attributed to excessive blood loss due to the delay in medical assistance.
Hingna police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the absconding driver. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect.
