Nagpur: The Nagpur Division of Central Railway reported a remarkable ₹80.77 lakh in catering earnings for January 2025. The division’s cumulative revenue from April 2024 to January 2025 stood at ₹7.85 crore, surpassing the annual target by 1.4% and registering an 8.77% growth compared to the same period last year.

The growth highlights the division’s continuous efforts to enhance catering services and streamline vendor management. To ensure service quality and passenger safety, the division intensified monitoring activities across both mobile and static catering units. In January 2025, 325 unauthorized vendors were prosecuted as part of a crackdown on unregulated operations.

A total of 16 inspections were conducted by officers in mobile catering units, while supervisors carried out 56 inspections in mobile units and 60 in static units. These comprehensive checks have been instrumental in identifying service lapses and boosting operational efficiency.

To enforce regulatory compliance, penalties were imposed on catering units for service lapses. IRCTC-run units, including mobile and static services, were fined ₹20,000, while railway-managed static catering units faced a penalty of ₹2,000 for non-compliance with service standards. The division has also implemented a Vendor Management System across all catering units, enhancing transparency and accountability.

With a focus on service quality and passenger satisfaction, the Nagpur Division continues to strengthen its catering operations, contributing to revenue growth and an improved travel experience for passengers.
