Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Nagpur apprehended Premanand Dadarao Katre, Assistant Police Inspector of Koradi Police Station, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. The bribe was allegedly demanded to settle a complaint related to a fraudulent sale deed involving agricultural land in Mouza Kawtha, Kamptee Taluka.
According to ACB sources, the complainant, a 42-year-old resident of Nagpur, had filed a complaint at Koradi Police Station regarding fraud and forgery in the sale of jointly owned agricultural land. Instead of taking action on the complaint, the accused officer allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh to facilitate a settlement.
Following the complainant’s report to the ACB on February 4, 2025, a trap was set. During the operation conducted on February 5, Katre was caught red-handed accepting the bribe amount in the presence of witnesses at Koradi Police Station. The entire bribe sum was seized on the spot.
A search of the accused officer’s person revealed an additional ₹300 in cash. ACB officials also conducted a search of Katre’s residence, which is currently underway. The officer’s mobile phone has been seized for further investigation.
A case is being registered against the accused officer under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further examination and investigations are being carried out.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Digambar Pradhan, Superintendent of Police, ACB Nagpur Division, and Additional Superintendent Sanjay Purandare. Deputy Superintendent Roshan Yadav supervised the operation, with Police Inspector Preeti Shende leading the trap and investigation team.
The ACB team included Police Inspector Nilesh Urkude, Police Hawaldars Bhagwat Wankhede and Bharat Thakur, Constable Hemraj Gajre, Woman Constable Dipali Bhagat, and Constable Vijay Solanke. The Nagpur Division of ACB remains committed to combating corruption and ensuring accountability among public servants.
