Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 2 of Nagpur Police, on Wednesday, successfully cracked a major burglary case registered at Bhandara Police Station. The operation led to the arrest of a 41-year-old suspect and the recovery of stolen cash and gold-silver ornaments worth ₹17.44 lakh.
According to police sources, during a routine patrol near IBM Road in Gittikhadan on February 5, police personnel apprehended a suspicious individual riding a Jupiter moped. Upon interrogation, the accused identified himself as Roshan Sevakdas Meshram, a resident of Bhimtekdi, Gittikhadan, Nagpur. A search revealed a large quantity of cash and gold-silver jewelry in his possession.
Upon further questioning, Meshram confessed to a burglary at a residence in Bhandara on February 4. The complainant, Mahesh Suresh Mantri, had reported that cash worth ₹18 lakh, kept for a wedding, was stolen from his locked bedroom.
Following the investigation, police seized ₹8.68 lakh in cash, gold-silver ornaments worth ₹7.71 lakh, a Jupiter moped, and a mobile phone. The accused, along with the seized items, was handed over to Bhandara Police for further legal proceedings.
The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singhal, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Maknikar, with the efforts of Senior Police Inspector Shubhangi Deshmukh and her team.
