Nagpur: Railway Police at Nagpur Railway Station apprehended an interstate gang involved in thefts amidst heavy passenger traffic heading to Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj and other destinations. Authorities seized stolen valuables, including five mobile phones and a wallet containing cash, with a total worth of ₹1.05 lakh.
Swift Action by Police:
Following a surge in passenger movement, Superintendent of Police (Railways) Dr. Priyanka Narnaware instructed the deployment of plainclothes and uniformed police personnel to ensure passenger safety. During surveillance, police received reports of two mobile phone thefts from the general coach. Acting swiftly, they detained five suspects and recovered the stolen items.
Gang Members and Seized Goods:
The arrested gang leader, Sheikh Piru Sheikh Saeed (23) from Milind Nagar, Surat (Gujarat), and his four accomplices were identified as Chiraguddin Chand Shah (28) from Muktai Nagar, Jalgaon, Rahul Suresh Patil (26) from Milind Nagar, Surat (Gujarat), Anil Suresh Unate (28) from Khaparkheda, Saoner, Nagpur and Sheikh Wasim Sheikh Ayub (35) from Hajra Nagar, Amravati, currently residing in Surat (Gujarat).
Police recovered five mobile phones, a wallet, and cash, valued at ₹1.05 lakh. The suspects confessed to involvement in six theft cases around the station premises.

The successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Railways) Dr. Priyanka Narnaware and Additional Superintendent Dattaram Rathod. Police Inspector Gaurav Gawande and RPF Inspector Satyendra Yadav led the team, comprising police personnel Mishra, Patle, Dhandar, Khawse, Trivedi, Rajpande, and Dhongdi. RPF officers, including Sub-Inspector Manoj Pandey, Constable Neeraj Kumar, and Constable Kapish Man, also played a key role in the operation.
