Nagpur: In a significant step toward enhancing crime investigation capabilities, five Mobile Forensic Vans were officially launched under the jurisdiction of Nagpur Police Commissionerate on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
The initiative is part of the implementation of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, with the vans handed over to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) for Zone 1 to 5 by Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal during a ceremony at Police Bhavan, Civil Lines.
The launch was made possible through the coordinated efforts of Dr. Vijay Thakre, Deputy Director at the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Nagpur. Dr. Thakre and his team prepared 16 specialized forensic kits, equipping each van with state-of-the-art crime investigation tools.
Advanced Features of Mobile Forensic Vans:
• Fully Air-conditioned: Ensuring a comfortable working environment for forensic experts.
• High-Tech Equipment: Includes computers, printers, refrigerators, and chemical analysis kits for prompt examination.
• Cyber and Explosives Investigation: Comprehensive tools for handling cybercrime cases and explosive-related incidents.
• Crime Scene Cameras: Advanced cameras for efficient crime scene documentation.
Each van will be staffed by a forensic laboratory officer, assistant, attendant, and police personnel, including both male and female officers in designated uniforms. Forensic experts will promptly analyze samples collected from crime scenes and provide detailed reports to investigating officers.
The program witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Police Commissioner, Nagpur, Sanjay Patil, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime), DCPs Rahul Maknikar, Shweta Khedkar, Lohit Matani, Rahul Madne, and Archit Chandak, Forensic experts Vaishali Mahajan, Dr. Vijay Thakre and others.
The introduction of these Mobile Forensic Vans marks a major step forward in modernizing forensic investigations in Nagpur, ensuring faster and more precise crime scene analysis.
