Vehicle and Battery Theft Gang Busted; Four Arrested, Stolen Property Worth ₹2.2 Lakh Seized in Nagpur

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 3 of Nagpur Police apprehended four individuals involved in multiple vehicle and battery theft cases, leading to the recovery of stolen property worth ₹2.2 lakh. Three theft cases were solved with the arrest of the accused.


The case came to light after Rajit Dilip Wankhede, 32, a resident of Yerla, Kalmeshwar, filed a complaint at Tehsil Police Station. Wankhede had parked his Passion Pro motorcycle (MH 40 DH 8162), worth ₹25,000, in front of Mayo Hospital’s casualty area while visiting his nephew admitted there. Upon returning, he discovered the vehicle missing. A case under Section 303(2) of the BNS was registered against unidentified culprits.


During a parallel investigation, Crime Branch officials received credible information and conducted a technical probe, which led to the arrest of two suspects Raja Khan Salim Khan (22), resident of Motha Tajbagh, Sakkardara and Johnson Sanjay Pal (23), resident of Sawli, Chandrapur. 


Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to the motorcycle theft. Further investigation revealed their involvement in additional thefts along with two accomplices Ramzan Khan Baldar Khan Taji (65) and Sohail Ramzan Khan Taji (22), both residents near the water tank at Motha Tajbagh, Sakkardara


The gang admitted to stealing two batteries from an e-rickshaw at Garoba Maidan in Lakadganj and four more batteries from another e-rickshaw near Sonu Mobile Store in Sataranjipura.


Police seized stolen property, including the motorcycle and batteries, totaling ₹2.2 lakh. The accused and the recovered goods were handed over to Lakadganj Police for further investigation.


This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Patil, and Assistant Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Patil, led by PI Mukund Thakre, PSI Madhukar Kathoke, and other personnel, including Santosh Singh Thakur, Bhushan Bhagat, Kapilkumar Tandekar, Jitesh Reddy, Deepak Dasarwar, Deepak Lakde, Vishal Rokde, and Pramod Deshbhartar.
