Nagpur: Tehsil Police on Friday arrested two tobacco smugglers near Agrasen Chowk on Central Avenue and seized banned tobacco products worth ₹8 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a vehicle near Lal Imli Chowk and discovered several branded tobacco products during a thorough search.

The arrested accused have been identified as Deepak Shriram Sonawane (46) and Mukesh Bithamal Pinjani (45), both residents of Sindhi Colony, Khapri. They were reportedly transporting the goods from a transport agency in Lakadganj to Khapri for illegal sale.

Police are currently investigating the source of the tobacco and identifying others involved in the supply network.
