Nagpur: New Kamptee Police have arrested a man along with a minor accomplice for stealing jewellery worth over ₹1 lakh and selling it to a local jeweller.
The accused, Afroze Ansari Shamsad Ansari (23) of Girija Nagar, Bhandewadi, was found responsible for a recent burglary reported in Saeed Nagar, New Kamptee.
The victim, Sheikh Salim Sheikh Bismillah, returned home from Bhopal on May 7 to discover that gold jewellery and cash had been stolen. CCTV footage led to Afroze’s arrest. He admitted to committing the theft with a juvenile and selling the stolen jewellery to Anandrao Randive Jewellers.
Police have recovered gold ornaments worth ₹2.25 lakh and registered a case under multiple sections of the BNS against both the accused and the jeweller.
