Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Nagpur Crime Branch has arrested two chain snatchers involved in a recent incident in the Nandanvan area.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Zakir Mohammad Shahid (24) and Sheikh Nawaz Sheikh Riyaz Ahmed (20), both residents of Bada Tajbagh, were caught following a swift investigation.
The incident occurred when 69-year-old Kundan Singh Hatwar, a resident of Shaktimata Nagar, was sitting outside a shop and was targeted by the duo riding a motorcycle. One of the accused snatched a gold chain and pendant from Hatwar’s neck before fleeing.
During the operation, police recovered a motorcycle, mobile phone, and a gold pendant worth ₹1.10 lakh from the accused. This arrest marks a significant step in curbing chain snatching cases in Nagpur.
