Sakkardara Police Foil Dacoity Attempt, Arrest Three Suspects; Weapons, Cash Seized in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a swift operation, Sakkardara Police arrested three individuals in the early hours of Tuesday, October 15, 2024, foiling a dacoity attempt in Ashirwad Nagar, NIT Ground. The police patrol team noticed suspicious men hiding in the darkness and quickly surrounded the area. While two suspects managed to escape, three were apprehended.


Upon questioning, the arrested suspects identified themselves as: Sheikh Sameer alias Baburao Sheikh Firoz (22), a resident near Dehliwale Amma Dargah, Motha Tajbagh, Sheikh Mohsin Sheikh Rahim (27), a resident of Thakur Plot, Motha Tajbagh, and Sheikh Irshad Sheikh Yusuf (29), a resident of Azad Colony, Gulshan Chowk, Tajbagh.


They also revealed the names of their two accomplices who fled the scene: Bala Pimpalkar and Sanket Digraskar, both residents of Old Bidipeth, Nagpur.


During the search, the police recovered a cache of items from the suspects, including an iron sword, an aluminum rod with rubber coating, three mobile phones, a rope, chili powder, and ₹1,120 in cash, with a total value of approximately ₹26,820. The accused were found in possession of these items while preparing for a robbery.


A case has been registered at Sakardara Police Station under sections 310(4), 310(5) of the BNS, along with sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, based on a report filed by Sub-Inspector Puja Khandekar. The arrested suspects have been taken into custody, while the search for the two absconding accomplices continues, and further investigation is underway.
