Nagpur: The Central Railway's Nagpur Division continues to establish itself as a frontrunner in freight transportation, bolstered by the successful operation of four Gati Shakti Terminals (GCTs). These state-of-the-art terminals, which include two commissioned in the last financial year and two added recently, have set new standards for efficiency and revenue generation in the region’s freight operations.
Among the operational terminals, the RGTM Mukutban Terminal stands out as a cornerstone of success. In the financial year 2023-24, this terminal handled 380 rakes, generating an impressive revenue of ₹134.91 crore. Building on this momentum, from April to December 2024, the terminal processed 283 rakes, contributing ₹74.83 crore in revenue. Similarly, the recently commissioned JCSK Kalmeshwar Terminal has shown significant promise. In its initial months of operation in 2024-25, the terminal handled 31 rakes, adding ₹10.06 crore to the division’s revenue. These achievements underscore the division’s commitment to efficiency and excellence in freight operations.
To sustain this growth pattern, the Nagpur Division has ambitious plans for further expansion. Proposals are in place for the establishment of additional Gati Shakti Terminals at strategic locations, including Dinesh OCM at Makardhokda, Mungoli at Nirguda and Ghughus, WCL at Yekona, and DEWPL at Sonegaon. These new terminals are poised to enhance logistical efficiency, streamline freight operations, and support the growing industrial demands of the region. These terminals are designed to enhance logistical efficiency, support the industrial demands of central India, and significantly increase the division’s freight handling capacity.
The new terminals are expected to streamline freight operations, reduce turnaround times, and foster industrial growth. By facilitating faster and smoother movement of goods, they will strengthen connectivity between key industrial hubs and promote seamless trade. This initiative aligns with the vision of transforming India’s logistics sector, driving economic progress, and contributing to the nation’s infrastructure development.
The Central Railway’s Nagpur Division remains steadfast in its mission to deliver excellence in freight operations. Through its Gati Shakti Terminals, the division continues to play a pivotal role in boosting economic activity and supporting India’s industrial growth.
