Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 3 Arrests Man For Stealing from Sai Mandir in Kalamna

Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 3 has arrested a man involved in multiple thefts, including a burglary at Sai Mandir in Kalamna and vehicle theft, solving three cases in total.


According to police, between 12:50 AM and 5:00 AM on September 15, 2024, the accused broke into Sai Mandir, located near the water tank at Plot No. 394, East Suryanagar, under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station. The suspect, a male aged between 20 and 22 years, along with a woman in her 40s dressed in a salwar suit, broke the temple lock and stole two brass lamps (each 3 feet tall), one brass "Panch Aarti," and four brass cymbals, valued at ₹9,200. Based on a complaint filed by Anil Vitthalrao Wanjari (54), a resident of Plot No. 385, Suryanagar, Nagpur, Kalamna Police registered a case under Section 305(D) of the BNS against unknown persons.


During a parallel investigation, officers and personnel of Crime Branch Unit 3, acting on reliable information and technical leads, detained Irfan Ansari Shamshad Ansari (23), a resident of Bhandewadi, Pardi, near Lal School. Upon questioning, Ansari confessed to the temple theft along with his accomplice, Naina Meshram, a resident of Tajbagh, Nagpur.


Further interrogation revealed that Ansari was also involved in two additional thefts—one involving the burglary of another temple under the jurisdiction of the Juni Kamptee Police Station and the theft of a Splendor bike (MH 40 AF 7140) worth ₹55,000 from the Ambazari Police Station limits. Police recovered the stolen items from both temple thefts, as well as the stolen bike, bringing the total value of the seized property to approximately ₹1,00,000.


The arrested accused, along with the recovered items, has been handed over to the Kalamna Police for further action.


This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Nagpur City Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Jt CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil (Crime), Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Makanikar (Detection), and Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhijit Patil (Crime), with the efforts of Police Inspector Mukund Thakre, Police Sub-Inspector Madhukar Kathoke, and a dedicated team comprising Dashrath Mishra, Vijay Srivas, Bhushan Bhagat, Santosh Singh Thakur, Jitesh Reddy, Deepak Dasarwar, Kapilkumar Tandekar, Deepak Lakade, Vishal Rokade, and Pramod Deshbhratar.
