Nagpur: In a festive move to elevate New Year celebrations, the State Excise Department has extended operational hours for liquor-serving establishments on December 24, 25, and 31. Beer bars and clubs will now remain open until 5 AM, allowing uninterrupted celebrations for partygoers welcoming the New Year, confirmed Suraj Kumar, Suprintendant, State Excise Department, Nagpur.
Hotels and clubs are offering exclusive packages and parties, featuring domestic and international liquor selections to make the festivities memorable. Known as “31st Night,” New Year’s Eve attracts revelers across age groups, making it one of the most vibrant nights of the year.
Updated Operational Hours for Liquor Establishments:
• Wine Shops (FL-2):10 AM to 1 AM
• Beer Shops:10 AM to 1 AM
• Beer Bars:11 AM to 5 AM
• Clubs:11 AM to 5 AM
Strict Measures Against Underage Drinking
The Excise Department has reiterated its commitment to preventing underage drinking. Selling alcohol to minors is strictly prohibited, and violators will face severe consequences. Officials have urged liquor establishments to ensure minors are not allowed at alcohol-related parties.
Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade
The Excise Department has intensified its crackdown on illicit liquor activities. From April 1, 2024, to December 23, 2024, authorities seized illegal liquor worth ₹3.37 crore and apprehended 2,202 individuals. Efforts to curb liquor smuggling from Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have led to the successful execution of three major operations this year.
