Nagpur | April 23, 2025: In a significant move aimed at strengthening policing and curbing rising criminal activity in Nagpur city, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal has disbanded the investigation teams at Ambazari and Kapilnagar Police Stations with immediate effect. The decision follows a review of recent grave crimes in these areas and signals a firm commitment to overhaul the city’s crime-fighting strategy.
The Kapilnagar police jurisdiction drew sharp attention after a murder was reported in a public area on April 19, 2025. Reacting swiftly, Commissioner Singal ordered a complete revamp of the investigation unit in the police station. The newly appointed personnel are expected to take decisive and proactive action to tighten law enforcement and prevent further criminal incidents.
A similar administrative shake-up was carried out in Ambazari, which has recently witnessed a spike in violent crimes, including the Pandhrabodi murder on March 16 and the shooting incident near Nimbus Café on April 15. Citing the need for enhanced surveillance and targeted crackdown on habitual and organized criminals, the existing investigation team was removed and a new team is being deployed.
Commissioner Dr. Singal emphasized that citizen safety is non-negotiable and assured that any police unit failing to perform will face swift administrative changes. “Performance audits are ongoing across all police stations, and wherever necessary, structural reforms will be undertaken without delay,” he stated.
The newly inducted officers will be given jurisdiction-specific crime briefings and tasked with implementing strict and strategic law enforcement measures. A compliance report on the restructuring has also been sought on priority.
This high-level reshuffle reflects the Commissioner’s no-nonsense approach and sets a strong precedent for accountability within the force.
