Nagpur: Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 Hindu pilgrims, Nagpur police have intensified security arrangements across the city. The move comes after alerts from national security agencies and the Ministry of Home Affairs were issued to major cities across India.
In response, security has been bolstered at key locations including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Mahal, Hedgewar Bhavan in Reshimbagh, Nagpur Railway Station, and Deekshabhoomi. Alongside heightened security measures, the city police have sought the cooperation of religious leaders to help maintain communal harmony.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Mahak Swami is spearheading the initiative in sensitive areas, particularly Ganeshpeth, where communal violence had erupted in March. Police have collaborated with Muslim religious leaders who have strongly condemned the attack and extended their support in preserving peace.
“Our Muslim brothers have condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and are united with us in our mission to protect the city’s harmony,” said DCP Swami. “They have appealed to citizens not to fall into the trap of such divisive acts and to stand united against terrorism.”
