Nagpur: A major commercial development is set to reshape Nagpur’s skyline as the city’s largest commercial complex is planned near Yeshwant Stadium in Dhantoli. The project, which will feature three to five towers, each up to 25 storeys high, is expected to house hotels, offices, malls, multiplexes, and more, reports Lokmat Times.
The land for the project is owned by Maha Metro and has been leased to Kukreja Infrastructure Private Limited. The developer has been granted four years to complete construction, with the project spanning around two lakh square feet. The builder will pay an upfront sum and a royalty for land usage over 60 years.
Taj Hotel Likely to Open in Nagpur’s Prime Location:
Tata Group’s Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is reportedly considering this location for Nagpur’s first-ever Taj Hotel. According to Kukreja Infrastructure’s Managing Director, Shravan Kukreja, the six-acre plot in the city center is the preferred site for the luxury hotel. The builder has already made an upfront payment, with a royalty of approximately ₹5.5 crore (including GST) set to be paid to Maha Metro over the next 60 years.
The project is gaining a Floor Space Index (FSI) of 4 under the State Government’s transit-oriented development (TOD) policy, allowing buildings up to 90 meters high. With multiple towers planned, this development is expected to transform the city’s skyline.
Nagpur’s Commercial Landscape Set for Transformation:
This large-scale development is part of a broader strategy by Maha Metro to generate revenue from commercial projects. Officials noted that delays due to land categorization and the COVID-19 pandemic had pushed back the project, but now construction is expected to accelerate.
As Nagpur’s commercial and hospitality sectors expand, the introduction of a Taj Hotel and high-rise towers will bring significant investment and job opportunities to the city, further enhancing its status as a growing metropolitan hub.
