Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police have registered a case against three individuals, including a Merchant Navy officer, for allegedly defrauding a man by promising him a job in the Merchant Navy. The accused have been identified as Indrajeet Rathod, Prakash Sahu, and Nilesh Kamble.
The complainant, Hardik Dharmewar, who works for a shipping company in Gujarat, is a resident of the same complex as Rathod in Venkatesh City, Besa Road, and was familiar with him. Hardik, aspiring to work in the Merchant Navy, approached Rathod, an officer in the Navy, seeking employment opportunities.
Rathod allegedly told Hardik that he could secure a position after completing 15 days of training at Utkal Shipping for a fee of ₹4 lakh. Trusting Rathod’s assurance, Hardik paid ₹2 lakh and completed the training in Visakhapatnam.
Following this, Rathod introduced Hardik to two Utkal Shipping employees, Prakash Sahu and Nilesh Kamble. Sahu and Kamble convinced Hardik that they could help him secure the job for an additional ₹3.20 lakh. Believing them, Hardik paid ₹2.45 lakh. However, when the promised job did not materialize, Hardik repeatedly asked for a refund, but the accused began avoiding him.
Frustrated by their evasive behavior, Hardik eventually filed a complaint with the Hudkeshwar Police. An investigation into the fraud is currently underway.
