New Delhi: While Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming Dil-Luminati Tour has generated massive excitement, the pre-sale of tickets has also sparked concerns over rampant black-marketing, with resellers offering tickets at exorbitant prices. The popular Punjabi singer sold an astounding 1 lakh tickets within just 15 minutes during pre-sales, but many of these tickets have since reappeared online at inflated rates.
The pre-sale, which was exclusively available for HDFC Pixel Credit Card holders starting at 12 pm on Tuesday, saw tickets for the Silver section initially priced at ₹1,499. Prices were later raised to ₹1,999, but even then, the tickets sold out in minutes. The demand was even higher for the Gold (standing) area tickets, which were priced at ₹3,999, and for premium sections like Fan Pit Phase I and II, where prices soared to ₹9,999 and ₹12,999, respectively.
Soon after the tickets sold out, many appeared on online platforms for resale at shocking markups. In some cases, tickets are being listed for as much as ₹21,000—over 10 times the original price. The blatant black-marketing has frustrated fans who were unable to purchase tickets during the pre-sale and are now left with little choice but to pay these exorbitant prices if they want to attend.
Social media platforms quickly became a battleground between those lucky enough to snag tickets and those angered by the inflated resale prices. In one viral post, Kanishk Khurana, an X (formerly Twitter) user, claimed he “knew a girl” who spent a staggering ₹41,265 on tickets for Diljit’s concert. He humorously urged people to "make better financial decisions," highlighting the ridiculous sums being spent for what is ultimately a three-hour event.
Despite the overwhelming demand, the black-marketing of tickets at such obnoxious prices has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a celebratory event. Fans are now calling on the concert organizers to take action against resellers and ensure fair access to tickets as the Dil-Luminati Tour approaches.
