NAGPUR: Career Counselling and Alumni Interaction were part of an Induction and Orientation
Programme organised by the Department of Mass Communication, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj
Nagpur University, on September 12 and 13 for its newly-admitted students.
“Because most students are new to the field of Mass Communication, it becomes important for them to
have detailed discussions with teachers, industry professionals and past students on different aspects of the curriculum and the career prospects in each area,” said Head of the Department Dr. Moiz Mannan
Haque, in a release issued here.
The programme was inaugurated on September 12 by Mr. Vijay Satokar, former Senior Editor of PTI,
New Delhi and ex-Regional Director of IIMC (Amravati). Dr. Vijay Khandal, Director of Student
Development, RTM Nagpur University, presided over the inaugural session. They gave valuable life and
career tips to the students. The 2023-24 issue of the Department’s student bulletin ‘Campus’ was
released on this occasion.
In the Career Counseling session, industry professionals presented the job scenarios in emerging areas and advised the students on how best to prepare for their career goals. The Guest Speakers included Bhagyashri Raut, Reporter, BBC Marathi, Mr. Gajanan Umate, Vidarbha Bureau Chief of TV9 and Mr. Arpan Pathane, PR professional.
On the second day, the students were briefed about the department, the syllabus requirements and the
regular activities and facilities of the Department by HoD Dr. Moiz Mannan Haque. Another session
featured self-introduction by the students and teachers. In the last session, around a dozen alumni of the Department shared their experiences with the current students.
The organizing team included faculty member Mr. Manoj Kale, office staff Mr. Prakash Timande, Mr.
Ankit Jagtap and Mr. Prasad Fulbandhe and students Pratiksha Wasnik, Priyanshu Choudhary, Deepak Kushwaha, Kaustubh Chavhan, Aniket Umak, Satish Sahare, Khushi Rathod, Amol Rathod, Payal Kale, Shraddha Mahajan, Tanishya Gajbhiye, Vijaya Kund and Tanu Patil.
