Nagpur: In a swift crackdown on drug trafficking, a team from the Social Security Branch (SSB) conducted a late-night raid within the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, officers seized 20 kilograms and 750 grams of Ganja valued at approximately Rs 3.73 lakh, along with two mobile phones worth Rs 35,000, totaling Rs 4.08 lakh in seized contraband.
The operation, which unfolded between 11:45 p.m. on November 8, 2024, and 5:30 a.m. on November 9, 2024, was conducted near the wall of the NIT Hot Plant on the road leading to Chikhli Chowk. Two individuals, identified as Mohd. Aslam Mohd. Munawar, 41, a resident of Kawarapeth, and Faizal Mohd. Afzal, 34, from Mumbra, Thane, were apprehended during the raid.
The SSB team led by PI Kavita Isarkar along with NPC Sheshrao Raut, PCs Kunal Masram, Ashwin Mange, Sameer Shekh, Nitin Wasane and others, uncovered that the two accused were actively involved in handling and transporting cannabis in the area. Following their detention, the confiscated goods, including the cannabis and mobile phones, were handed over to the Kalamna Police Station for further processing and documentation.
Additionally, police have identified two more suspects believed to be connected with the case. A man named Manish and a woman named Amina, reportedly a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, are currently on the run. The authorities are intensifying efforts to track down these suspects as investigations continue into the broader network behind this drug operation.
