Nagpur: A violent clash erupted at Awasthi Square in Nagpur during the early hours of Tuesday when supporters of Nagpur West candidates Vikas Thakare and Narendra Jichkar allegedly engaged in a physical altercation. The situation quickly escalated, prompting intervention from the Gittikhadan Police Station.
A non-cognizable offence (NC) has been registered against both groups, according to police sources.
Following a recent controversy regarding ration distribution, independent candidate Narendra Jichkar has once again come into the spotlight.
Nagpur West is seeing a three-way contest among Congress’s Vikas Thakare, BJP’s Sudhakar Kohale, and independent candidate Jichkar. Polling for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election is scheduled for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
