Nagpur: Lakadganj Police have seized counterfeit Green Ply sheets being sold under a false brand name, following a raid on a Maheshwari Plywood store. The raid was carried out by police after receiving a complaint from Krishna Kumar Ramudit Singh, an authorized representative of Green Ply Industries, based in Dwarka, New Delhi.
According to the complaint, Singh discovered that “Maheshwari Plywood,” located in the Small Factory Area, Lakadganj, was allegedly selling fake plywood sheets under the label “Hara Eco Green” in place of the legitimate “Green Ply” brand. Acting on this information, Singh, along with Lakadganj police, conducted a raid at the store on November 11 around 2 p.m.
During the raid, officers found and seized a total of 240 counterfeit plywood sheets, valued at approximately Rs 1,52,254. Based on Singh’s complaint, the Lakadganj Police have registered a case against the shop owner, identified as Rajesh Badrinarayan Bagdi, 50, a resident of Swaminarayan Enclave, Wathoda, Nagpur.
The case has been filed under Sections 51, 63, and 64 of the Copyright Act, along with Sections 103 and 104 of the Trademark Act. The investigation is ongoing as authorities examine the extent of the alleged infringement.
