Nagpur: In an extensive law enforcement initiative conducted on November 12, the Nagpur City Police executed a special “Externed Operation” across all police stations in the city, resulting in the removal of 99 individuals deemed to be threats to law and order. The operation was carried out to ensure a peaceful, transparent electoral process for the upcoming 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The crackdown aimed to maintain strict law and order, prevent intimidation by criminals, and uphold the Election Code of Conduct. This initiative is part of the Nagpur City Police’s efforts to create a secure environment for voters, ensuring the assembly election proceeds without disruptions.
Further Actions Taken During Code of Conduct Period:
1. Preventive Actions: A total of 1,679 individuals have faced preventive measures.
2. Non-Bailable Warrants: Police have executed 520 non-bailable warrants.
3. MPDA Detentions: Under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act, seven offenders have been detained.
4. Liquor Ban Law Enforcement: In 490 cases related to illicit liquor, actions were taken against 528 individuals, resulting in the seizure of contraband valued at Rs. 11,74,904.
5. Arms Act Enforcement: Police registered 117 cases under the Arms Act, arresting 127 individuals and seizing a total of 127 weapons.
6. NDPS Act Cases: In 32 cases related to narcotics, police took action against 48 individuals involved in the distribution of MD and marijuana, with seizures amounting to Rs. 15,48,006.
7. Gutkha and Tobacco Enforcement: In 39 cases involving banned tobacco and gutkha, actions were taken against 64 individuals, and Rs. 38,12,664 worth of goods were seized.
8. Seizure of Unlawfully Transported Cash: Police confiscated Rs. 45,46,850 in unaccounted cash found during routine checks.
These extensive measures reflect the police’s commitment to maintaining an orderly environment in Nagpur during the Assembly election period.
