Nagpur: In a tragic hit-and-run accident, a 55-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a speeding motorcycle on November 7, 2024, around 9:00 p.m. The victim, identified as Bablu Shriram Uike, a resident of Amar Nagar Road near Vasundhara Dairy Company, Nagpur, was returning home from the market on foot with his friend Vinod Fulchand Dhurve, 28, after purchasing vegetables.
As they attempted to cross the road near the water tank between IC Square and Hingna Road, an unknown motorcyclist allegedly drove at high speed and recklessly hit Uike. The impact left him severely injured, and the rider fled the scene immediately after the collision. Uike was rushed to AIIMS Hospital for treatment, where he was later declared dead by medical professionals.
Based on a complaint filed by Dhurve, the MIDC police have registered a case against the unknown driver under Sections 106(1), 281 of the BNS and Sections 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further inquiries are ongoing.
