Nagpur: “The Indian Constitution has granted us the precious right to vote, just like every other citizen. In the last Lok Sabha elections, many of us exercised our right and fulfilled our duty. In this upcoming state assembly election, we will vote not out of duty but out of self-respect, and we urge the citizens of Nagpur to come forward and cast their votes on the 20th,” said Sonu Nayana, a member of the transgender community. Sonu also made an emotional appeal, stating, “Our blessings will reach the families of those who vote.”
As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, a rally was organized today by the transgender community at Gitanjali Chowk. The event aimed to raise awareness about the voting rights granted to every section of society and to motivate all voters to participate in the polls on November 20. Following the rally, Sonu Nayana made this heartfelt plea, which received a strong response from the public.
The rally, held this morning near Gitanjali Talkies, was attended by Zonal Officer Suresh Khare, Vidya Kamble, and several prominent members of the transgender community, including Rakhibai, Muskanbai, and Vidyabai. The participants took a collective oath to promote voting and pledged to encourage others to exercise their democratic right.
