Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted a raid in Vijay Nagar area and busted large stock of illicit liquor here, on November 12, around 2:00 pm. The incident reported within the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station.
Acting on a tip-off, AHTU officers raided the residence of a 57-year-old woman, identified as Maya Sukhad Ghendre, where they discovered a large, unlicensed stock of liquor intended for illegal sale.
The seizure included 750 bottles of 90 ml country liquor, 96 bottles of 180 ml country liquor, and 40 bottles of 90 ml Imperial Blue foreign liquor, amounting to a total value of Rs 36,370. The liquor was confiscated as it was stored without a valid license. Consequently, an offense was registered against Ghendre under Section 65(E) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act at Kalamna Police Station. The accused, along with the seized items, was handed over to Kalamna Police for further action.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singhal, along with senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil. The raid was carried out by Police Inspector Lalita Todase and team members, including Gajendra Thakur, Rajendra Atakale, Deepak Bindane, Sunil Wakde, Shyam Anguthalewar, and others.
