Nagpur: Youth Caught Brandishing Sword in Public, Arrested by Kalamna Police

Nagpur: Kalamna Police have apprehended a 24-year-old youth for allegedly brandishing a dangerous weapon and creating public nuisance near Shitla Mata Temple in Vijay Nagar here, on Wednesday.


The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on May 28, when a police patrol team received information about a man displaying a sword and causing a commotion on a public road.


Upon reaching the location, the police found the suspect holding an iron sword and hurling abuses. He was immediately restrained, and the weapon—an old iron sword valued at approximately ₹1,000—was seized.


The accused has been identified as Chandresh Baliram Verma, a resident of Rahul Gandhi Nagar, Chikhli Slums, Kalamna. He was taken into custody under BNS Section 4/25 and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for possessing a weapon with the intent to commit a cognizable offence and violating public order. The investigation is ongoing.
