Nagpur: It has been a significant amount of time since the horrific Ramjhula accident in which Ritika Maloo, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed her Mercedes into a two-wheeler, killing two men. However, the police have done little to prevent similar incidents on the same stretch. Another disturbing episode recently unfolded on the flyover, once again drawing attention to the city’s escalating night-time road chaos.

In the latest case, a young woman and her four friends were caught on camera assaulting a motorcyclist following a minor collision on the Ramjhula flyover during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The altercation reportedly began when the biker’s two-wheeler accidentally brushed against the woman’s car. Enraged, she stepped out of the vehicle, hurled obscene abuse at the youth, and physically attacked him. Soon after, four of her male friends arrived and joined in the assault.

A video of the incident quickly went viral across social media on Saturday, May 31, sparking outrage among citizens and raising concerns over rising street violence and mob behaviour.

Shockingly, despite the footage being widely circulated, the police claimed they had no official report or information about the incident. This silence from authorities has further fueled criticism over the lack of accountability and law enforcement in high-risk zones like Ramjhula.

The twin episodes — a fatal crash and now a public assault — have turned Ramjhula into a hotspot of recklessness, prompting urgent calls for stricter night patrols and immediate intervention by the authorities.
