Nagpur: In a daring theft in the Pratapnagar area, unidentified miscreants stole a bag containing gold ornaments worth ₹3.17 lakh from a car belonging to a local jeweller on Thursday night.

The victim, Varun Prashant Dhomne (25), a resident of Pratapnagar and owner of Dhomne Jewellers near Padole Hospital Square, had briefly stepped into a nearby shop for a snack after placing a bag containing the gold ornaments in his parked car.

Taking advantage of the unattended vehicle, the unidentified thief made off with the bag. The theft came to light when Dhomne returned and found the bag missing.

Following his complaint, Rana Pratapnagar Police registered a case of theft and have begun investigating. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the accused and track their movements.

The incident has raised concerns over the increasing number of thefts in commercial areas and the need for enhanced security, especially for business owners handling valuables.
