Nagpur: Wathoda police swiftly apprehended a suspect involved in a robbery within six hours of the crime here, on Friday, March 14.
According to police sources, on March 13, at around 10 PM, the victim, Shekhar Ramu Raut, 29, a resident of Madhya Pradesh currently staying in Shailesh Nagar, Nagpur, was walking home after purchasing household items.
Near Kohinoor Lawn, two individuals on a black motorcycle intercepted him. One of them brandished a knife and forcibly took his mobile phone and ₹550 in cash. When the victim resisted, the second assailant struck him on the head with a blunt object, injuring him before fleeing.
Acting promptly, Wathoda police launched a search operation and detained a juvenile suspect. Upon further investigation, the suspect revealed the involvement of Kunal alias Bhurya Bhaiyyalal Wankhede, 20, a resident of Suraj Nagar, Bhandewadi, Wathoda. Wankhede confessed to committing the crime in collusion with the juvenile.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the BNS and arrested one of the accused. Further investigation is in progress.
