Pratap Nagar Police Apprehend Externed Man with a Deadly Weapon in Nagpur

Nagpur: Pratap Nagar police apprehended a man in possession of a deadly weapon, despite being externed from the city for two years.


On March 13, at around 8:45 PM, a patrolling team received information about an individual brandishing a weapon near Buddha Vihar, Sant Tukdoji Nagar, Subhash Nagar. Acting on the tip-off, the police reached the location and found the suspect in possession of a ₹200 iron knife.


The suspect identified himself as Ganesh Omprakash Gadekar, 24, a resident of Shastri Layout, Subhash Nagar. A background check revealed that he had been externed from Nagpur city and rural limits for two years under an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, on November 28, 2024.


As he was found in violation of the externment order and carrying a weapon with suspected criminal intent, Pratap Nagar police registered a case under Sections 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Sections 142 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.


Further investigation is underway.
