Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against seven individuals for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent land mortgage and sale deal, cheating the Dharampeth Mahila Co-operative Society of Rs 1.2 crore.

Between September 30, 2008, and June 19, 2024, the prime accused, Dudharaam Lodkuji Savvalakhe, a resident of Gajanan Nagar Society, Omkar Nagar Chowk, Ajni, Nagpur, along with six others, allegedly mortgaged a 2.10-hectare agricultural land located at Mouza No. 210, Ph. No. 38, Khasra No. 43/2A in Panchpaoli (Rithi), Tehsil Ramtek, Nagpur, to the Dharampeth Mahila Co-op branch at Swami Orchid, Dharampeth.

Police said loans worth Rs 1.2 crore were secured in the names of three co-accused – Ranjit Nathusingh Naukaariya, Meera Nathusingh Naukaariya, and Manisha Ranjit Naukaariya – each receiving Rs 40 lakh, while other accused acted as guarantors.

Despite the land being under mortgage, the accused allegedly executed a sale deed in favor of Venkateshwara Rao Konabatula without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the cooperative society. The notarized deal violated loan conditions and resulted in a breach of trust and financial loss to the institution.

Based on a complaint filed by Pramod Narayan Gavai (50), a resident of Nandanvan Colony and representative of the society, police registered an FIR under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention).

Further probe is underway.
