Crime Branch Nabs Thief for Breaking Car Window, Stealing Ring and Cash in Lakadganj, Nagpur

Nagpur: In a swift breakthrough, Crime Branch Unit 3 has solved a theft case reported near Telephone Exchange Square under Lakadganj police limits, where a thief broke a car window to steal a diamond-studded gold ring and cash. A 25-year-old man, Himanshu Namdeo Chinchulkar, a resident of Om Nagar, Bharatwada, was apprehended in connection with the incident.


According to police sources, on April 10 around 2:00 am, the complainant, Swaraj Sameer Mukherjee (25), had parked his four-wheeler (MH-05-FB-8688) near a friend’s shop at Rajkamal Tailors, close to the Balaji Mandir ATM. He had left a diamond-studded gold ring and ₹5,000 in cash inside the locked car. During his brief visit to the ATM, an unidentified thief broke the car window and made away with valuables worth approximately ₹75,486.


Based on technical investigation and credible intelligence, Crime Branch Unit 3 identified and detained Chinchulkar. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Police recovered the stolen gold ring, ₹400 in cash, and a two-wheeler (MH-49-BJ-0335) used in the theft — all valued at approximately ₹1.6 lakh. The accused and the seized property were handed over to Lakadganj Police for further investigation.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil, by PI Anil Taksande and his team.
