Nagpur: The Cyber Police Station of Nagpur city has achieved significant success in investigating cybercrime cases from January 1 to December 15, 2024. During this period, 144 cases of online fraud involving a total amount of ₹50.06 crore were registered. The team managed to freeze ₹28.56 crore during the investigation and arrested 33 accused from various states.
In a major achievement, the Cyber Police facilitated the return of ₹3.75 crore to victims following court procedures.
Additionally, through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP), the Cyber Police handled 13,014 complaints of financial fraud involving a total amount of ₹91.59 crore. Out of this, ₹18.41 crore was successfully frozen, and ₹2.72 crore was returned to the complainants after legal proceedings.
The department also addressed 759 complaints regarding offensive or objectionable posts on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Telegram. Prompt action was taken to remove such content, particularly posts targeting women and children.
This exceptional performance was achieved under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Lohit Matani, and Senior Police Inspector Amit Dolas, with technical expertise from the Cyber Police team led by Inspector Amol Deshmukh.
