Crime Branch Unit 4 Solves Five Cases of Vehicle Theft and Burglary in Nagpur

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 4 has successfully solved five cases, including two vehicle thefts and three burglaries, recovering stolen property worth ₹94,500.


The investigation began after complainant Gautam Sudhir Rodge (25), a resident of Omanagar, Talmale Layout, Nagpur, reported his Activa scooter (registration no. MH-31-DH-4382) stolen from outside his home on December 20, 2024. A case was registered at Kalamna Police Station under Section 303(2) of the BNS.


During parallel investigations, Unit 4 police personnel received a tip-off about two individuals on a suspicious Activa scooter. Upon interrogation, the suspects, Afroz Shamshad Ansari (23) of Girja Nagar and Sagar Ashok Verma (19) of Vijay Nagar, confessed to the theft. They also disclosed their involvement in a series of burglaries and another vehicle theft with an accomplice, Amol Chafekar.


The recovered stolen items include 12.98 grams of gold, silver ornaments, ₹2,500 cash, and the Activa scooter, totaling ₹94,500.


Under the guidance of senior officers, including Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal and Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, the operation was led by PI Kamalakar Gaddime, API Avinash Jaybhaye, and other team members. The accused have been handed over to Kalamna Police for further investigation.
