Nagpur: In an admirable display of honesty, Police Constable Mayur Liladhar Kawade, stationed with the Quick Response Team (QRT) and residing within the jurisdiction of Ganeshpeth Police Station, traced and returned a lost sum of Rs 26,843 to its rightful owner.

According to Ganeshpeth PI Machindra Pandit, Kawade discovered the cash near his home on November 6, 2024. The amount was bundled with rubber bands and included receipts for vegetable sales, suggesting it belonged to a local farmer.

Constable Kawade’s quick thinking led him to contact the farmer based on the receipts found with the money. After identifying the owner as Nitin Narayan Bhise, aged 31, from Bhisnur village in Narkhed Taluka, Nagpur, the police constable invited him to Ganeshpeth Police Station on November 9, 2024. There, Bhise was reunited with his lost cash.

Grateful for the constable’s integrity, Bhise offered a reward to Kawade as a gesture of appreciation. However, Kawade declined the offer, staying true to his commitment to duty and public service.
