Recruitment conducted transparently through online examinations
Nagpur: The much-awaited recruitment process for five cadres in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), initiated in December 2024, has been successfully completed with appointment orders issued to 177 candidates. The corporation dispatched the appointment letters via registered post on July 31, 2025.
The recruitment drive covered the posts of Junior Engineer (Civil), Civil Engineering Assistant, Junior Engineer (Electrical), Tree Officer, and Nurse (Staff Nurse). As per details, appointments were made for 25 Junior Engineers (Civil), 104 Civil Engineering Assistants, 3 Junior Engineers (Electrical), 4 Tree Officers, and 41 Nurses, totaling 177 positions.
This marks the first large-scale recruitment in the municipal corporation in recent years. Officials noted that the initiative was made possible due to the efforts of NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, following directives from the Maharashtra Government.
Earlier, under Advertisement No. 804/PR dated December 23, 2024, the NMC had announced 245 vacancies across the five categories. The online written examination was conducted between March 20 and March 27, 2025, across 27 cities in Maharashtra, ensuring transparency. Strict arrangements including CCTV surveillance, jammers, and police security were in place at exam centers. A total of 33,247 candidates appeared for the test.
Based on the examination results, provisional selection and waiting lists were published on the official NMC website, after sharing answer sheets with candidates. Subsequently, document verification was carried out between July 8 and July 10, 2025, at the NMC headquarters.
The final selection and waiting list was published on July 30, 2025. Out of the 245 shortlisted candidates, 24 remained absent for verification, while 44 belonged to parallel reservation categories, for which their documents have been forwarded to the concerned department. Appointment orders for these candidates will be processed once departmental verification reports are received, informed the General Administration Department.
Significantly, this was the first major recruitment exercise since 2004, conducted as per government guidelines and through an authorized external agency, under the supervision of the municipal commissioner. Dr. Chaudhari congratulated the officials and staff involved in ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.
