Nagpur: A jeweller and his son were brutally attacked by a group of criminals near Chinteshwar Temple under Lakadganj police station on Monday, February 3 night. The assailants also vandalized the shop and assaulted a police personnel who tried to intervene. Shockingly, despite being detained, the accused were released within hours and returned to threaten the victims again.
According to police sources, Padmakar Parate (48) owns Parate Jewellers near Chinteshwar Temple. On Monday night, a group of men were drinking and hurling abuses outside his shop. When Parate objected, they initially left but later returned with weapons. They ransacked his shop, assaulted him, and even attacked his 71-year-old father. A police personnel passing by also faced their wrath, with his mobile phone smashed.
Despite public outrage, the police released the accused. Soon after, they returned intoxicated, issuing death threats.
This shocking incident has sparked anger among residents, raising concerns over law enforcement’s failure to act. Locals demand strict action against the accused to prevent further violence in the area.
