Nagpur: As part of the preparations for the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections, Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal conducted an on-site security review of sensitive areas in the city on Friday at 11:30 am. During the inspection, he visited critical polling booths and nearby high-risk neighborhoods.
The Commissioner made an unscheduled visit to key polling booths at Kadaria High School and Rajendra High School in Hasanbagh, under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station. He reviewed security arrangements and received a detailed briefing from local police officials on the preemptive measures taken to ensure a secure election process.
Dr. Singal then moved to Bharatwada Road and Minimata Nagar in the Kalamna Police Station jurisdiction, where he assessed election-related monitoring efforts using a mobile surveillance van equipped with drones. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Zone 5, Niketan Kadam, provided insights into the drone surveillance, covering areas with dense populations, traffic control, movement of suspected miscreants, and the progress of election-related police patrolling.
The Commissioner also inspected a critical booth at the Marathi Primary School in Minimata Nagar, managed by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. He evaluated the security protocols in place and issued further instructions to ensure a smooth election process.
During the visit, Dr. Singhal emphasized the importance of maintaining robust police presence, including increased patrolling and traffic management measures. He directed officers to prioritize law and order, closely monitor activities of anti-social elements, and maintain vigilance over the movements of habitual offenders to prevent disruptions during the election period.
