Nagpur: In a swift police operation, Lakadganj police apprehended a 21-year-old man for assaulting and robbing a pedestrian at knifepoint in the vicinity of Bairagipura near Siddheshwar Temple. The incident took place between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on November 8, 2024, when Sachin Ganesh Chandimeshram, 27, a resident of Akoli, Kamptee, was walking near the area.
The accused reportedly threatened Chandimeshram with a knife, inflicted injuries on his right arm and lower back, and forcibly took Rs. 4,400 from his pocket. The injured victim was later taken to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
Following the victim’s complaint, the Lakadganj police registered a case against the accused under Section 309(6) of the BNS, as well as Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Acting promptly, the police utilized CCTV footage from the area and gathered information from local witnesses to identify and locate the accused.
The accused, identified as Shubham Sevak Pardhi (alias Bairagi), 21, of Naik Talav, Pachpaoli, was detained and, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime. Police recovered Rs. 3,000 in cash and a steel knife from his possession.
This operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner (North Zone) Pramod Shewale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Mahak Swamy, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lakadganj Division) Shweta Khade, with direct action by Inspector Hemant Chandewar, Sub-Inspector Sakharam Kamble, and constables Pawan Sonbhadre and Narendra Waghmare.
