Nagpur: The Unit No. 3 of Nagpur Crime Branch uncovered an illegal lottery gambling operation during a raid conducted on Tuesday, December 24 at a shop in Bhoi Pura Fish Market within the Ganeshpeth Police Station limits.
Based on reliable information, the police conducted the raid at around 2:30 pm and caught two accused red-handed. Identified as Gaurav Rajesh Nanhe (22), a resident of Mattipura, Old Mangalwari, and Jayprakash Shankar Maske (42), a resident of Dwarka Nagri, Kharbi, the accused were found gambling on illegal lotteries for personal profit. A third accomplice, identified only as “Baba Bhai,” is currently wanted in the case.
The raid led to the seizure of gambling equipment, including two computers, CPUs, keyboards, two printers, an internet router, cash worth ₹4,250, and other items totaling ₹58,360.
A case was registered against the accused under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act. The accused and the seized materials were handed over to Ganeshpeth Police for further investigation.
