Nagpur: In a recent operation, Nagpur Crime Branch Unit No. 2 apprehended a man found in possession of banned tobacco products worth Rs 1,52,938. The raid was conducted between 10:10 p.m. on November 6, 2024, and 12:30 a.m. on November 7, 2024, at Plot No. 2255/26/A, Nandanvan, following a reliable tip-off.
The accused, identified as Gajanan Domaji Badkhal, 56, a resident of Plot No. 48, Pandhan Road, Vidya Nagar was found storing a variety of flavored, scented tobacco and pan masala. Police reported that he was hoarding these banned substances with the intent to sell them for personal profit.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 123, 223, 274, 275, and 3(5) of the BNS at Nandanvan Police Station. The accused has been detained, and the seized items are now under police custody for further investigation.
The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhijit Patil.
The raid was executed by Police Inspector Shubhangi Deshmukh and her team.
